DESCRIPTION:Join Rick Starlin\, MD\, infectious disease expert\, to explore the current state of infectious diseases in the United States. Many infectious diseases have the potential to affect healthcare settings\, including dentistry. Learn about the current pathogens of interest and how to create a safe environment of care. Attendees must be present at the scheduled virtual event and complete an evaluation for credit. \nAbout the Presenter:\n \nRick Starlin is an Assistant Professor of Internal Medicine in the Division of Infectious Diseases at the University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC). He completed his medical degree at UNMC and has a BS degree in Biological Sciences from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. His residency in Internal Medicine and fellowship in Infectious Diseases was completed at Barnes-Jewish Hospital/Washington University in St Louis. He subsequently served as Chief Resident in Internal Medicine at Washington University after completing his fellowship.   \nHe is currently the associate medical director for Employee Health and co-medical director of the IM subspecialty clinic at Nebraska Medicine. He also serves as the service line director Community ID/Telehealth ID service and co-director of the non-tuberculous mycobacterial clinic at Nebraska Medicine. His clinical interests include non-mycobacterial infections and general infectious diseases with emphasis on community/telehealth-based care. Outside of work he enjoys multiple sports\, reading\, and traveling with family.  \n
