ADAA June President’s Letter
As we welcome the warmth of summer back into our lives, I would like to thank each member who continues to support ADAA. Without your strength, dedication and support to numerous educational endeavors, our organization would not be what it is today, nor would we be able to push for further excellence. I invite each member to contribute/participate towards our growth. Below are a few opportunities that ADAA would welcome your support. I’d love to hear from you at vantroba@verizon.net if you could contribute.
- Review a webinar or course from our educational library
- Submit a new “Dental Brain Game” for our Dental Assistant Journal
- Nominate a fellow member for an ADAA award (Pride Award, Loyalty Award, New Member Involvement Award, President’s Award of Excellence) by June 30th
Speaking of nominating a fellow dental assistant for an award, I would like to start a positive movement for dental assistants. It’s called “Celebrating Dental Assistant Victories” Celebrating victories, both big and small, is important for our overall well-being, and unfortunately, we do not often get the positive reinforcement we all crave in the dental industry. Positive reinforcement is powerful, and this is our chance to lift each other up. Whether it’s mastering a new skill, standing up for yourself, or simply making it through a challenging week, your story matters. Your story might inspire someone else to set new goals, reignite their passion, or simply smile.
To kick things off, I will share one of my own Dental Assistant Victory:
I overcame my fear of confrontation and asked for a salary increase and got it! I tracked how I saved the doctor time and money by monitoring nitrous oxide inhalation, took an approved course, passed the exam, and presented the value of this skill to my employer. Not only did I get the raise, but I was also reimbursed for the course! Once the dentist saw the value in both time and money, it was an easy decision for him to reward my efforts.
Now I want to hear from YOU. For the next three months, please send your Dental Assistant Victory story to vantroba@verizon.net along with permission to publish (either with your name or anonymously). Let’s inspire each other with real stories of growth, strength, and success.
Together, we can build a more supportive, empowering community one story at a time.
Wishing you a month full of sunny smiles,
Ronda Lane
