August ADAA President's Letter

Dear ADAA Members,

As we enter the month of August, I am thrilled to reflect on an exciting milestone that we will soon celebrate. In November 2024, the American Dental Assistants Association (ADAA) will proudly mark its 100th year as the oldest and largest professional association dedicated to the dental assisting profession. For a century, ADAA has been committed to elevating the role of dental assistants through education, advocacy, and support, and we continue to set the standard for excellence in our field.

To honor this historic achievement, we are hosting a special in-person session for our 100th Anniversary on Saturday, November 9th, in Irving, TX—returning to the state where our journey began! We invite all of you to join us in celebrating this momentous occasion as we reflect on our rich legacy and look forward to an even brighter future.

August also brings with it the start of the back-to-school season, which is always an exciting time for dental students embarking on or continuing their educational journey. Whether you are just beginning or furthering your studies, ADAA is here to support your growth and success in the field of dental assisting. We encourage all dental students to take advantage of the resources and networking opportunities that ADAA provides, as you are the future of our profession.

Additionally, I am excited to remind you that nominations for the ADAA/DANB Scholarship will open soon. This scholarship continues to be a valuable resource for those looking to further their education and career in dental assisting. We encourage you to start thinking about potential candidates or your own application, and we look forward to another outstanding year of recognizing and supporting excellence in our community.

Let us move forward with pride as we celebrate 100 years of progress and look to the future of dental assisting.

Warm regards,

Lisa Childers Hernandez, CDA, RDA, MEd
