Letter From Leadership: Lisa Childers Hernandez

Dear ADAA Members,

As spring ushers in a season of growth, so too does it bring changes and advancements at ADAA. We are currently in the midst of transitioning to a new website and database portal, designed to enhance the way we serve you. This new system is currently in its testing phase, and I am thrilled about the improvements it promises to bring. The upgraded portal will simplify many of our common tasks, such as renewing memberships, registering for events, and updating personal information. We aim to make this system not only more user-friendly but also a gateway to new possibilities that will impress you. Our management team is working diligently to ensure you receive the best possible experience. Soon, all users, including members, non-members, and applicants for educational programs, will need to authenticate their accounts in the new ADAA Portal. Please stay tuned for further communications on this and remain engaged with the ADAA community.

I would like to extend a warm welcome back to all members who renewed their memberships in March and April. Your continued involvement enriches our community, guiding new relationships with prospective and current members alike. To our new and student members, welcome to ADAA! Your choice to join our professional organization is greatly valued, and we are delighted to have you among us. President Ronda Lane has personally reached out via email to each of you. If you are interested in getting involved with our Membership or Education councils, please do not hesitate to let us know.

In March, I had the pleasure of attending the ADEA annual session, the American Dental Education Association, under the leadership of Rebecca Stolberg, has shown tremendous support to ADAA, providing a wealth of information and resources for dental assisting educators. The insights shared at this meeting are invaluable for enhancing education in today’s classrooms. I also enjoyed a wonderful dinner with Lara Skarnullis and Jennifer Price from DANB, who continue to be steadfast supporters of ADAA. Additionally, I must commend OSAP and Michelle Lee for their unwavering support of our dental assistants.

Looking ahead, we are in the early stages of planning our annual session, which will be a particularly special event as we celebrate ADAA’s 100th anniversary in the birthplace of Juliette Southard, our founder. Please mark November 9th on your calendars and stay alert for updates through our website, emails, ADAA 24/7, and the Journal. I am eager to share more about our event plans as they develop.

Thank you for your dedication to ADAA. Together, we continue to strengthen our community and advance our profession.

Warm Regards,

Lisa Childers Hernandez, CDA, RDA, MEd
